Exactly as he almost touched the lips of Narumi Momose, Hirotaka Nifuji goes into the coward-mode.
He breaks off the kiss and just hugs Narumi Momose.

Kiss interruption I find anyway already bad and annoying enough.
But how this kiss interruption came about was just unbelievably awful.

And that even though Hirotaka Nifuji and Narumi Momose had already kissed briefly in episode 3.

So I thought it was kind of pretty weird how it was shown here and that he didn’t dare to kiss her.

Narumi Momose meets someone in a café and talks to him for a longer time.
Turns out this someone was Naoya Nifuji, Hirotaka Nifuji’s little brother.

Season 1, episode 5

In the anime there often will be mentioned Narumi Momoses earlier relationship partner.

In one episode, there is a small review of Hirotaka Nifujis as a teenager.
You can see that Hirotaka Nifuji had pierced his ear for a piercing. Why?

During a walk he had seen Narumi Momose with her former relationship partner.
The relationship partner had piercings on his ear.

Since Narumi Momose preferred someone “cooler”? , Hirotaka Nifuji then, probably out of jealousy, he also pierced his ear for a piercing.
However without success, since Narumi Momose has never seen him as a possible relationship partner.

In the next scene you see Hirotaka Nifuji cry because he was not good enough for Hirotaka Nifuji and feels cheated.

Just shortly in Season 1, episode 8.

Maybe now some will think that this is not an NTR-vibe, I can understand that as well.

But this moment, even if it was only short, has personally hit me hard and maybe you know that feeling yourself.
When your crush chooses someone who is better / cooler, and you then also try to be like that.

In the end, it doesn’t work anyway and you feel cheated and abandoned.

My opinion

Moments:

‘Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii’ is a RomCom anime with many heartwarming, sweet and funny moments.

Apart from a little drama moment in Episode 4, there is very little drama in the anime.
Romance is only moderately represented, since the anime is also about other things.

For example, it’s about games / anime / manga, about working or about building friendships with the other characters.

Animation:

The animation I found pretty and fit well with the anime.

Characters:

Hirotaka Nifuji and Narumi Momose:

In the character Hirotaka Nifuji I personally could almost see myself.

A rather introverted guy who doesn’t involve with romantic relationships anymore and who plays a lot, goes working and often undertake something with friends.

The only thing I would not do anymore today is to still be in love with a woman (even after years), who has preferred other relationship partners.
(I know, calls me resentful, but I’m a bit older guy and also have already gone through quite a bit.)


At the beginning I found Narumi Momose rather unlikable and her love for Hirotaka Nifuji not believable, as if she just wanted to take advantage of him.

  • Narumi Momose already had several relationship partners.
    I did not quite understand if it was 2 or 3 (or maybe more?).
  • She also says that her last relationship partner was a hot guy and that she is not into the nerd typ.
    Although she is a nerd herself.
    (I mean, isn’t it nicer if a relationship partner has something in common?)
  • Hirotaka Nifuji was friendzoned by Narumi Momose.
    (She tells him that he is not her type and that they are only nerd friends).
  • At the end of the episode Hirotaka Nifuji makes her some kind of love confession.

In episode 3, it can be understood that Narumi Momose is no longer a virgin.

(Since she indicates that it’s not her first time thet she is in a male apartment, and she also worries and was questioning herself about what the color of her panties is.)

In Episodes 2 and 4, Hirotaka Nifuji tells Narumi Momose (in his own way) that he is in love with her.

However, you wont hear even once from Narumi Momose during the whole anime saying that she is in love with Hirotaka Nifuji.

In episode 8 you see one of the hot relationship partners which Narumi Momose preferred.

Narumi Momose gives Hirotaka Nifuji ear piercings as a present, because she wanted to see what Hirotaka Nifuji looked like when he wanted to grow up.
And since Narumi Momose also pierced her ears with the same earrings (only in white), they could even walk around in a partner look.


(((Unfortunately, this will not be talked further about in the anime.
But you could also think of it in a different way now:

What Narumi Momose does not know is, why Hirotaka Nifuji has pierced his ears.

You might could think that Narumi Momose would like to see how Hirotaka Nifuji looks like with ear piercings, just like her former relationship partner wore them.)))


So, the only thing that did not convince me so much from Narumi Momose during the anime, are her feelings towards for Hirotaka Nifuji.

But of course, Narumi Momose also has her positives sides.
She is a nice and funny woman. Has her nerd hobbies that she can also share with Hirotaka Nifuji.

And thus she was also able to make friendship with Tarou Kabakura and Hanako Koyanagi.
So there were many beautiful and heart-warming moments with her and the other characters.

There are also many beautiful moments in the anime, where you can see that Narumi Momose cares about Hirotaka Nifuji.

Narumi Momose gets even jealous and in episode 11 she finally puts a little more effort and finally shows off herself from her best side to Hirotaka Nifuji.

So if there’s going to be a second season, I hope that Narumi Momose will be more romantic to Hirotaka Nifuji and to learn more about her past, for example, to understand exactly what really happened between Narumi Momose and her previous relationship partners.


Tarou Kabakura and Hanako Koyanagi:

With this two you need a little to understand, that they are already a couple.
Tarou Kabakura and Hanako Koyanagi have their good sides and also their bad sides.

One thing that gets a bit annoying after a few episodes are their quarrels, which also goes a little too far in one episode.

And yet, they get along with each other and have also many beautiful Heartwarming moments together in the anime.

!!! On March 29, 2019, an OVA was released !!!
I think it tells more about their school days and how they got together.


Naoya Nifuji and Kou Sakuragi:

The two were not shown often, but make a very nice impression on me.
I was a bit scared at first because I thought it would be a yaoi romance between them.

(Just to explain: Yaoi and Yuri Romance are rather uninteresting for me and belong to my taboo facts.)

Ending:

Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii finished with a nice normal ending and makes you want more.

I would definitely look forward for a second season to see how the relationship between Hirotaka Nifuji and Narumi Momose will continue to develop.

In addition, it would be very interesting to see the romance between Naoya Nifuji and Kou Sakuragi.

I rated episode 9 the worst.
